The Stylish Bangkok Travel Guide

stylish bangkok travel guide

Where to stay:
siam kempinski bangkok
the peninsula bangkok
  • Other noteworthy places: The Mandarin Oriental, The Shangri-La, The Eugenia.
Restaurants & bars:
issaya siamese club
  • Issaya Siamese Club (above): favourite meal of our whole trip in Thailand. The place looks incredibly cute and the food is delicious! If you`re here don`t forget to try their fresh fruit juices in particular the fresh watermelon.
sra bua
  • Sra Bua in the Siam Kempinski: We went here for dinner on our first night back from Phuket. We were tired, sad for leaving the beach lifestyle, and very much in need of a good meal. And this place definitely gave us a very good meal. The dessert in particular was delicious!
sirocco bar
  • Sky bars: for drinks with a view Bangkok doesn`t lack rooftop bars. The most famous one and the one we visited as well is Sirocco at the Lebua hotel. It`s the tallest rooftop bar in Bangkok but frankly I found it a bit too touristy and busy. This is where a few scenes from "The Hangover" were filmed and it was full of tourists trying to take pictures with Bradley Cooper posters. Although we didn`t get to check it out, Vertigo bar at the Banyan Tree is supposed to be much more intimate while still providing breath-taking views.
  • Blue elephant: the food here was good but not great and again a bit too touristy.
  • Street food, food courts: you will never be lacking in good food choices in Bangkok. Delicious street food is everywhere and shopping malls usually have amazing food courts. The most notable for us was the Siam Paragon food court. It`s impossible not to find something you like there.
Things to do:
  • Shopping: Siam Paragon, Terminal 21, Central World shopping centres are amazing. Siam square also has a great number of small boutiques from independent designers so worth checking out (small tip: the best time to go is at night because that`s when more sellers come and set up their clothing stalls). For markets the most popular one is the Chatuchak Weekend market although it`s completely huge so it`s worth researching before you go the sections you want to visit.
  • Spa & beauty treatments: anything else better than getting pampered? Small beauty and massage parlours are everywhere in Thailand and oh so incredibly affordable.
  • 4D cinema: For something more relaxing it`s worth checking out the 4D cinema in Bangkok. Also most your boyfriend will love it.
  • Sight-seeing: Jim Thompson museum, the Grand Palace, and Wat Phra Kaew although there are many more beautiful Buddhist temples spread across the city.
