Travel in Style: Mallorca Photo Diary

Prepare once you enter this page for your computer screen to be flooded with sea and sky images from all angles- sea seen from above, from ground, from the side...you get the point. The reason for this is I found it impossible to stop photographing this beautiful island in Spain. Everyone that we spoke to there mentioned that Mallorca is at its best in spring. No tourist crowds, blooming nature, warm weather, and the sweetest oranges ready to picked. We organised a rented car at the airport which was probably one of our very few smart travel choices, which allowed us to take daily road trips to all the cute villages on the island.
So here it goes...
Cala de Deia near Deia village- a beautiful rocky beach where we had lunch and took a nap

Another photo of Deia- this place was so surreal I couldn`t help myself taking photos of everything.

After our siesta our next destination was Soller where we visited the local market and tried their famous Soller oranges.

Next stop was Valldemossa, another little village, famous for its beautiful cobbled alleys, full of flowers and plants.

Next day after a big breakfast (I just love hotel breakfasts!), we headed East of the island towards Pollenca. If you`re feeling active enough then it`s worth climbing the 365 steps towards the top of the village where you get a beautiful view.

As it was Easter there were also some street celebrations which immediately reminded me of the celebrations we used to do back home when I was a child.

From Pollenca we also stopped at Cala Vicenc for yet another beach lunch and of course siesta. By this point I was getting very used to siestas.

On our third day on the island something completely unexpected for me happened- we went hiking! I don`t even remember the last time I went hiking and it actually felt really liberating to just walk in a deserted place with only my thoughts to keep me company (that and the constant noise coming from my boyfriend). We stopped for lunch at this little mountain cabin (very rustic) where we had a delicious, very old-school cooked lamb.alaro village

Today`s Outfit: Styling the Crop top with Jeans

(River Island crop top, Asos white ripped skinny jeans, Asos white bag)

We are back home now from Mallorca and it feels pretty sad to have left such a beautiful place. We took a lot of road trips while we were there and this is one of the amazing places we discovered in Cala Sant Vicenc, a more secluded beach where we ate at a fishermen`s local spot and laid on the sand for our siesta (we were in Spain after-wall!). The clear, blue water was unfortunately too cold for swimming but still so beautiful to just watch.
I finally got to wear this cool crop top I got from River Island that I didn`t manage to wear in London due to horrible weather; and matched it with summery, white, skinny jeans. I swear River Island makes some of the best crop tops out there- I bought around 3 from them. Personally I`m only a fan of crop tops when worn with something high waisted or like in this case, where it`s more of a structural design. In a few months we`ll probably gonna be bored to death again of them till some other designers bring again the 90s back in fashion.

Top 5 fashion & art exhibitions to see in London this summer

1. Glamour of Italian Fashion (5 April to 27 July 2014) at V&A museum
the glamour of italian fashion exhibition

A look at Italian fashion from the end of Second World War till today.  The exhibition will be looking at both womenswear & meanswear, the fabrics, the techniques, and of course the major designers that have contributed the biggest role in shaping Italian glamour. There will be display of designs from Pucci, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, and so on. This list alone should make you want to swipe your credit card and book a ticket.
Entry price: £13.50 per adult. Discounts for students

2. Henri Matisse- The Cutouts (17th April to 7th September 2014) at Tate Modern
henri matisse the cutouts exhibition

Slightly more pricey but looking forward to seeing Matisse`s final work pieces. This is a very rare opportunity to see such a huge amount of his work before it goes back to the private owners around the world. Following London, the exhibition will also be showing in New York.
Entry price: £14.50 per adult.

3. Designs of the Year 2014 (26th March to 25th August 2014) at Design Museum

Quirky, innovative, cutting edge designs from the world of architecture, design, fashion, furniture, graphics, and so on. You will see here big names in the world of design such as Miuccia Prada along small startups and students projects. One of the exhibitions I`m looking forward the most.
Entry price: £13.88 per adult.

4. The fashion world of Jean Paul Gaultier (9 April to 25th August 2014) at Barbican Centre
the fashion world of jean paul gaultier exhibition

This is the first major exhibition dedicated to Jean Paul Gaultier and his avant garde creations. The exhibition will be showcasing 165 of his biggest creations including (yes I know what you`re thinking) Madonna`s famous conical bra. Look but not touch.
Entry price: £14.50 per adult.

(H&M tartan shirt, Asos midi skirt, Asos ankle boots, Asos drop down earrings)

Hampstead Heath is a beautiful area of London, former home of so many artists like Aldous Huxley, John Keats, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Taylor, and many more. The day we visited Fenton House, a beautiful 17th century house, there was an exhibition of all former and current famous Hamptead residents mostly in the area of music, literature, and cinema. The dreamy house and the even more dreamy garden made me lounge for a home like this where you seem to have stepped in a different era. I`m definitely an old soul, the only thing I`m missing though is a couple of millions to buy a house like this.
Now about the outfit. I think this is the first time I`ve worn earrings in an outfit on this blog. I used to have ear piercings when I was small but then high school came when it stopped being cool wearing earrings and after years of not wearing them I was forced to redo my piercings on a day out in Camden. Oh well, when in Camden...Now with infinite possibilities of ear adornment I`m hunting online shops for quirky earrings. If you know any good ones, let me know.
