Hotel Villa Belvedere Sicily Review

1. The room (15/20)
At check-in they offered us a free upgrade to one of their newly opened luxury suites which was amazing. The suite was extremely large with all my favourite amenities such as full blackout blinds and a beautiful view of the sea. The double rooms however are quite small and quite overpriced so I think if we actually stayed in one of those (where we were initially meant to stay) I would have given it a much lower score to the room.

2. The breakfast & other dining options (12/20)
The breakfast was plentiful with good variety. I was a bit disappointed that they didn`t provide any freshly squeezed orange juice especially since we were in Italy but as a plus they had a lot of pastries. We also tried the pool restaurant which was ok but I would suggest eating out in Taormina as there are much better options outside of hotels for lunch.

3. The pool & other facilities (10/20)
The pool wasn`t my favourite as it was quite small and designed in a way that it wasn`t really meant for swimming and rather just for cooling yourself down. In the photos I initially saw on their website it definitely gave the impression of a much larger pool, however it`s easy to get a shuttle or drive to a beach near by (some even have pools) which I think was most of the people did.

4. The service (20/20)
The service at the hotel was beautiful and I don`t have anything to reproach it. Everyone was very helpful and always made sure we were enjoying our stay. The free upgrade was again a very nice touch that definitely made our stay even more relaxing.

5. Location (14/20)
The hotel is ideally situated close to the Taormina centre which meant that you can easily walk to restaurants and bars which for us was perfect. In terms of the beach as Taormina is hill town it means that you depend on the shuttle service that picks you from the hotel, between £9 and £15 per person with return, or drive/take a scooter till the beach. There`s also an option to take a cable car to the beach, around £3 one way per person which we did once.

Overall rating: 14.2 out of 20
