Most Artistic Hotel in Melbourne: The Cullen

We arrived in Melbourne late at night in a terminal that looked straight out of a war zone (apparently Melbourne airport is under renovation so it`s not in its best state) and took immediately a taxi to the hotel. As we were passing away from the city centre and driving straight through some very quiet, residential areas I thought that I must have made a mistake and booked a hotel in some really weird location. We arrived at probably one of the coolest boutique hotels, in one of the coolest areas of Melbourne.
The theme of the hotel was donkeys. Ok, maybe not but there were surely loads of donkeys around. The hotel was a nice change from the usual beige/ cream colour scheme that most 5 star hotels go for and I really liked the artistic vibe in the air.

1. The room
Loved the bright pop of colours around the room, the funky artwork and the fact that the room came with a kitchenette with all the tools necessary to put together a good meal. We didn`t try to cook anything ourselves though as we were there for only 2 nights but it`s great if you`re there for a longer period of time and you don`t want to spend too much money on restaurants.
The only downside of the room was that you had to pay for wifi but I`ve noticed that this is something most hotels in Australia do.

2. The breakfast & other dining options
No breakfast buffet unfortunately (I know, what are they thinking!?!) but there`s a cafe downstairs that provides a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner. I`ve tried the cafe only for breakfast which was good but there are so many great cafes around that I recommend you`re better off trying them out rather than eating at the hotel.

3. The location
Great location in the artistic area of Prahran, full of boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel is also really well connected to the other tourist attractions with a tram stop just in front of the hotel.

4. The service
The service was good although nothing really stood out for me in this area.
